SOL Magazine Issue # 3 April 2009.

Howdy! My name is KEEP the BEET Media Star, The World’s First Talking
Beet Plant. (Here at SOL, they call me Miss Beet - so very respectful!)
Anastasia has been inspiring me and she thought it would be good for me
to write for my favorite magazine, Space of Love. I am the “Go To” plant
for helping all my friends get back in step with their own nature.
Plants have been around for a long time, sitting on the sidelines. We
are part of Nature’s Original Technology here to help every body
remember how to be their best. So what do you say, we all get back in
step with Mother Earth through growing some of our own food?
SOL:
Welcome to our Space of Love, dear Miss Beet. Do tell us - how did you
get so smart?
Miss Beet: I was raised in really good soil, the best
minerals and other organically rich materials from the ocean and land.
The earth and the soul are soilmates, Leslie says. I get some biodynamic
compost and love and conversation. Leslie reads me his poetry. He takes
me to conferences. The greatest nature lovers speak through plants.
Fairies live under my leaves. Sometimes, I wake Leslie up with ideas. I
will do the same for you. There is only “ONE Beet” - so KEEP the BEET,
and it will pay you back with miracles!
SOL: Miss Beet, can you tell our
readers more about your Recovery Program?
M. B.: Gladly! I believe that
as long as we bank on seeds and plants we can grow our dreams. When you
grow a beet in a pot, such as myself, you plant your dream: I am rooting
for you! Just write out what you want me to help you grow!
This is my
program:
1. Begin to grow food and your own healing herbs and medicines.
 3. Know Your Grower! Strive to know the farmers
growing the rest of your food. That is all I am suggesting for a very
improved experience of life.
2. Become a plant parent. Start with buying, replanting and growing a
locally grown organic beet in a pot. Adopt and KEEP the BEET. Eat the
Beet Greens! One beet, one pot at a time and soon we have a nation of
recovered gardeners.
Readers Q &A: Dear Miss Beet! "I want to
thank you for sharing your vegetative wisdom with all of us. My name is
Lily von der Field and I am 16 1/2 years old and when I talk about
gardening and the sensitivity of the plant kingdom, my friends laugh out
loud and say they prefer to hang out at the Mall because they will
neither get dirty nor wet there. They nick-named me Birkenstockie! Can
you tell me what to say to them?"
Miss Beet: Dear Lily! It's hard to
convert people but it's easy to inspire them by the way you ARE, Lily -
loving, peaceful and kind. More and more people will understand the
blissful feelings you experience in your garden when they buy a pot and
start to learn how to KEEP the BEET, just as Leslie did with me! Also,
please start an Anastasia reading circle with a few like-minded friends,
so you don't feel so alone. Ask all your friends to begin to KEEP the
BEET too and bring their beets to the circle! There is only ONE Beet!!
Hugs from my leaves to yours, Lily! I am rooting for you!
Ron Nash on Career Zone in conversation with Leslie Goldman,
Your Enchanted Gardener
Ron Nash: I have an amazing guest with me today, and he
is one of the most different individuals I know. He has done some great
things on the planet, as well as in my life. His name is Leslie Goldman
and he calls himself Your Enchanted Gardener.
Leslie: Not only am I with
you, but I also have my very own special companion with me – KEEP the
BEET Media Star, The World’s First Talking Beet. She’s my beet.
Ron:
Leslie is, in fact, really an Enchanted Gardener. I found that out from
a number of different people – including Mark Victor Hansen of the
Chicken Soup series. Leslie has been around a lot of special people for
a number of years, making a difference in their lives. Leslie plants the
seeds of success for people and their dreams. Leslie’s influence is
expressed in coaching that inspires intimacy, and photo-images that
record the history of peace on earth. He was given a UN Peace Medal in
1982 for the work he was doing in his life. His mission is growing the
Enchanted Garden - his name for our renewed earth. Leslie, you have a
blog and you’ve had over a million page views on your blog. Is that
correct?
Leslie: Yes, I get about a thousand page views every day, and I
have about 1,150,000 page views in all. It’s called the Plant Your Dream
blog. I write on it everyday.
Ron: Is writing and blogging a part of
your daily passion?
Leslie: Yes, I feel like I’m here to record the
history of peace on earth. I think that’s something each of us is
ultimately compelled to do as we get closer and closer to what you would
call the Career Zone – the zone that’s really meant for us, the job that
we’re supposed to do with our life, the job that we were born to do.
Mine is a vision of seeing the world in a certain way. Included in that
way of seeing the world are my ups and downs and everything that’s
happening in my own personal economy, and emotions....
Ron: Wow! So, the
bottom line is that you’re keeping it real.
Leslie: Yes, you have to
KEEP the BEET, as I say – you don’t really have a choice. What’s on
people’s minds today is the economy, which ultimately gets down to
something real and that’s our own personal economy – the moving energies
in our life.
Ron: Leslie, you’re doing a number of things – you’re
talking about KEEP the BEET - The Media Star; my show ‘the Career Zone’
and my book How to Find Your Dream Job. You saw me at the inception of
the whole process. What does this have to do with growing your dream
job?
Leslie: It's a basic recalibration which, I believe, all of us have
to go through nowadays. Many times, we don’t know what our dream job is.
We might be going too fast. We’re not growing at a natural pace. We’re
not growing in sync with Nature. We’re not recognizing that Nature
outside, is OUR nature. And so, when we’re growing our dream job, what
I’m referring to is having a perspective on natural growth. The easiest
way to get in touch with natural growth is to literally grow something.
My work is called Plant Your Dream. As far as growing your dream job,
right now in history, we’re being asked to return to natural rhythms.
For 8,000 years we evolved on this planet by natural means. It’s only
about the last 150 years that we lost track of our own nature. So, when
I say, “Plant Your Dream”, or “Grow your dream job”, I’m giving you a
trade secret. The trade secret is that people, in this moment and time,
need to get back to what’s real, to get back to making sure that their
ladder is up against the right roof, so to speak. Does that make sense?
Ron: That makes a lot of sense. As a matter of fact, one of the things
I’d like to share with people is how you and I have interacted in the
past. I met Leslie at a large conference in San Diego where he was doing
a closing ceremony and certainly he was one of the stars of the show.
One of the things he had me do was very interesting. We went through a
ritual of planting a dream. What came out of that was so incredible –
and it brings me to why I’m here today.
So, what you’ve said about
getting back to nature. We certainly have lost a good part of our
natural instinctual selves, and as a result of that, we’re seeing Mother
Earth give us signs about that. So, we can either intelligently get back
to our instincts, or experience something that’s going to shift this
whole process for us.
But let’s talk more about the economy and the way
things are today… What does all this have to do with the economy?
Leslie: Well, before we do that, I’d like to introduce my companion –
she’s KEEP the BEET Media Star. She’s jumping around here, in this pot
on my desk, and she truly is a Media Star. She likes to interview people
like you, Ron – people who are going places and people who are in touch
with their own dreams, and KEEP the BEET really does talk.
It’s like
this: if you learn the language of your Self, ultimately, you’ll learn
to take some time to slow down and recognize that the garden is not only
a literal place, but the garden throughout recorded time has been a
metaphor for consciousness. That’s one way of viewing the garden. So, if
you want to ground your dream, if you want to get in touch with
remembering the principles and the trade secrets of growing your dream,
you want to get yourself on the KEEP the BEET program. Now, of course,
there’s only ONE BEET, and I’m saying that from the standpoint of the
metaphor that now’s the time when we’re returning to the BEET, which is
the BEAT of life, the BEAT of Nature, and our heart beat. It’s also our
soul impulse. That has a lot to do with the economy. Many people right
now are experiencing recession and some people are talking about
depression.... And the key is to turn every breakdown whenever possible
into a breakthrough. One perspective on the economy is recognizing that
from the level of slowing down, from the level of what’s happening, that
what is happening right now to all of us is happening on purpose. It’s
happening to bring us back to our roots, and to get us grounded in the
idea that there’s only one root. KEEP the BEET says, “KEEP the BEET”.
So
what does this have to do with the economy? We’re in an evolutionary
process right now. We’re all being asked, once again, to live by the
economy of energy, according to the part of us that’s eternal.... When
we are fully in touch with who we are, and what we’re meant to do with
this life, our career is inspired by our soul. The economy that we’re
being asked to evolve into is one that is sensual, grounded, beautiful,
and elegant in the way of the soul. The soul economy and earth’s economy
are basically meant to be one root – one flowering expression. We have
lost our relationship to the economy. The economy of nature is based on
planting dreams with seeds and plants. A lot of us have to take another
look right now at what we’re believing in, investing in….
Because the
economy of nature is seeds, and seeds and plants are actually literal
metaphors for the soul, KEEP the BEET says that the earth and the soul
are soil mates. Some of us are getting a sense of what the earth
is...and we’re moving in the direction of what the soul is. The soul is
the eternal impulse that drives us – that really tells us why we’re
here. When you have a literal BEET growing in your life – we’re talking
about literally going to the Farmer’s Market, buying a beet to support
local farmers, stick this beet in a pot of fine soil and as the beet
grows, YOU will grow. That’s the program – KEEP the BEET to restore the
economy. It is one person, plus one pot, which will give you the
confidence that you can be a gardener. Every child is in that garden
naturally.
Every child knows how to KEEP the BEET. Now is the time to
teach us to return to that innocence and for us to know what we’re
banking on. That truly is the key and the trade secret to restoring the
economy. The evolutionary process we’re in right now is taking place in
several steps. The first is called ‘The Great Earth Clean Up’.
I’m sure
if you are like me, you’re experiencing an impulse to get things that
don’t belong in your life, out of your life. And the second part is
returning to the BEET, and that’s where the ‘Enchanted Garden’ welcomes
you once again; move into the garden, move into these practices. The
‘Enchanted Garden’ is a name for our renewed earth, where as we grow one
seed, we are growing one seed dream. Does this make sense?
Ron: This
makes a lot of sense! Let’s talk about the Great Earth Clean Up in
relation to the economy, because from my estimation, what I can see and
feel happening is that there is certainly a clean up. Whenever the
alignment of our cosmic consciousnesses meet, there are shifts that are
coming down with that. As you said, a breakdown is really the
opportunity to have a breakthrough. That is so perfect.
Many people who
have worked in industries or companies which are having layoffs or are
downsizing, are panicking – they’re losing their houses, cars and jobs
and all kinds of things. One issue which has come through that process
for me, specifically, is that we have attached ourselves to ‘things’
more so than to our own nature, more so than our own human spirit. This
is our opportunity to realign with what our core nature is and get back
to our natural instincts. Metaphorically, this is certainly an
opportunity for us to clean out our own lives in order to grow new
things inside of ourselves that really matter – for ourselves and for
future generations. I think you’re right on the money, Sir!
Leslie:
Well, not only am I right on the money, but I’m actually also getting in
the money. For instance, I had a lot of success come into my life since
I started doing and listening more to KEEP the BEET. I’ve had a great
opportunity where I live – I live with other people in the Enchanted
Garden Intentional Community. I have a definite tendency to do too much.
I have a lot to clean up in my life right now. But as far as getting in
the money, I had this great conference with KEEP the BEET, Hollywood
Goes Green. Then I went to another conference, the Perf Go Green Expo.
Those conferences were highly successful. The first one had all the
studio heads and people in the Green Movement who were definitely making
the move towards green. At the second conference, I started to work with
one of my favorite sponsors. If we want to be in the money, we need to
get clear that there are certain practices and certain kinds of income
that are leaving. When looking for our dream job, we want to make sure
that our dream job is Green. In this day and age, we’re moving to a time
where there is no other choice....
Ron: I’d like to talk a li ttle bit
more about KEEP the BEET Media Star so that the audience can know who
you’re talking about. She’s on tour with you. She actually went to a
couple of the big events with you in Hollywood – you took her up there,
right?
Leslie: Well, she is my companion. I’m basically the chauffeur.
She’s a little character – she wears glasses. A friend of mine created
this incredible cartoon image of this beet with the green headdress. Her
message is, “Howdy! I’m KEEP the BEET Media Star – the world’s first
talking beet. Grow a beet in a pot, eat the greens, keep growing the
beet, and you’ll learn that you can grow food!” That’s her motto,
everywhere she goes.
My new sponsor, Tony Tracy from PerfGoGreen, is
talking about making a movie of this cartoon character KEEP the BEET,
who learns to talk to you, as you learn to talk to her. Plants
communicate in ways that are subtle – they communicate through the wind.
They remind us that these are evolutionary times – times that ask that
we reawaken the radical appreciation of our roots in soil. We can bank
on seeds and plants for seeding dreams. Today, there’s a new
back-to-the-land movement which begins with you. And I recognize that to
be a gardener, you have to be a gardener of dreams. I’m not the only
person on the planet who’s meant to be an enchanted gardener. We’re all
meant to be in this enchanted garden club, and we can do that through
becoming a BEET person.
Ron: Leslie, I think you talked about some other
things going on with KEEP the BEET, in terms of giving her some press
and some of the Hollywood attention. What are some of the things you are
doing right now?
Leslie: She makes friends everywhere she goes! One of
her new friends is Paige Donner, who writes for Huffington Post. Paige
was the first one to actually quote KEEP the BEET. She put her in her
review about Hollywood Goes Green. KEEP the BEET actually has
aspirations to go to the Oscars. We thought she was going to get there
this year – she actually made friends with Ed Begley Jr., who has this
program called Living With Ed.
KEEP the BEET will have a column in
Space
of Love Magazine. So, that’s where KEEP the BEET is going. Tony Tracy
from Perf Go Green is putting on shows all around the country ...and she
got a lovely bio note in a new book that’s coming out called The
Ultimate Gardener. So, she’s definitely getting out.
Ron: Outstanding!
Leslie, we’re talking about how to find your dream job in a recession,
and even more so, how to plant your dream job even during a recession.
I’d like to share a story. As we mentioned earlier, when I first met
Leslie, he did a ritual with me and my children. We did a process called
Plant your Dream. We used what he called Job’s Tears. Leslie, I still
have the Job’s Tears plants in our home. They grow throughout the year.
So, it’s actually been a wonderful thing planting my dreams myself and
with my children. We got to see the actual seed grow into a plant, and
it was remarkable!
I actually have the paper that you gave me. It says,
“Today, I am planting my dream. Today, I am planting a beautiful
tomorrow.” What Leslie had us do was to write down what our dream was.
Mine says, “This is my Seed Dream that will grow as this plant grows.” I
wrote this on 11/01/2007, when I first met Leslie. And what I wrote
after I planted my Job’s Tears in the soil was, “I am celebrating a
full-blown internet training business. I am celebrating an international
company that I’ve created on the internet. I am celebrating a healthy,
happy, wealthy family, wife and children.”
The other side of it says,
“Sacred plant, I hold you in my hands and hold you as my future. Thank
you for representing my wishes I am planting. As you grow, so will my
seed dreams. Growing you will help me celebrate the harvest in my life.
Thank you for reminding me that I am a sacred seed. Thank you for
reminding me that the universe thrives as I thrive. Today, we grow a new
Enchanted Garden – a renewed earth.” Doing that process has been
super-interesting for me, because when I actually wrote that down and
planted the seed, I didn’t even have the Friends Zone; I didn’t have an
internet-based business, which is now starting to be received. I have
really grown a healthy relationship with my wife and my children and the
business model that I’m working on has been amazing. I had no idea that
this was going to come out of me planting my dreams! So, thank you for
allowing me to plant dreams into a physical place, where I can see them
grow. It’s very enchanting and I want to thank you for that. Talk a
little bit more about that process, Leslie.
Leslie: Ron, I really
appreciate your feedback. There is something about getting the natural
elements and forces behind us, especially in this new economy. I’ve
known Mark Victor Hansen for about 20 years. I met Jack Canfield before
I met Mark. We met in the early days of the Holistic Health Movement. I
was right there, planting the seed dreams for the Chicken Soup for the
Soul series when the first book came out. I actually had a dream myself
that the publishers from HCI - Health Communications would be my
publisher. That was the seed dream that I planted well over 14 years
ago. The first part of that dream just came true with the publishing of
The Ultimate Gardener book that includes six of my photos.
Ron, let’s
now imagine you planting the dream, that in a period of years your
children will be living in a world where the economy will become very
green, just like Tony Tracy's PerfGoGreen trash bags that are cleaning
up the planet and taking the old plastic back. There are going to be so
many new kinds of jobs – so many new electric car jobs, so many new
energies. We won’t even think of them as alternative energy. We’ll just
be thinking of it in terms of what’s natural....
During the night, KEEP
the BEET was reminding me of a quote from Emerson. Emerson was
saying...that everything is individual – it stands by itself. But by and
by, it finds how to join into two things and see them as one nature, and
then three and then three thousand. “And so, by its own unifying
instinct, it goes on tying things together – diminishing differences,
discovering roots, running underground whereby contrary remote things
coherently flower out from one stem.” He’s talking about this one root.
And then he says, “And what is that root? Is not that the soul of his
soul? A thought too bold, a dream too wild.”
We shall see that "nature
is opposite of the soul and is answering it, part for part – one is seal
and one is print." This is Emerson, and also KEEP the BEET speaking.
Emerson says, “Knowing thyself and studying Nature become one.” So
today, I’m planting my dream. I’m planting my beautiful tomorrow, and as
the beet grows, so we all grow.
Ron: I’ve got to tell you Leslie, why
that matters, the planting of the seeds. A lot of times we set goals and
we walk off. We don’t see anything. We don’t see any physical
manifestation unless we are paying attention, unless we revisit our
goals, which is something I encourage people to do. So, when you plant
something in the ground, you actually see that dream growing in a matter
of days and weeks. It attaches you to your idea a lot more than writing
something down on a piece of paper. There’s a lot more magic in planting
something in the ground. Leslie, before we go, what’s next with KEEP THE
BEET. Are there any things you want to talk about?
Leslie: Remember,
when you grow your beet, you do not eat KEEP THE BEET. We only eat the
beet greens. You can eat some beets. There’s a legend from the Enchanted
Gardeners that if a woman and a man eat the same beet, it acts as an
aphrodisiac. However, the truth is that you can eat beets, but you’ve
got to make sure that you also keep a growing beet. You eat the beet
greens. That’s what makes you confident that you can grow your own food.
KEEP THE BEET has her own site. Just Google ‘Beet Keepers Unite’, or
‘Beet Keepers’. If people want to come, they can come to the garden
here. You can always find me – just look for my name ‘Leslie Goldman
Your Enchanted Gardener’ and you’ll come to the Plant Your Dream blog.
I’m out there every day on the internet, writing about the heart and
soul of this program.
Ron: I’ve got to tell you, this has been
phenomenal and I truly appreciate who you are. I know that you have a
purpose on the planet and I appreciate you keeping that purpose and
sharing that purpose and gift with us. We are certainly in a stage of
awakening for all of ourselves. I would like to thank you and KEEP THE
BEET.
Everyone, make sure you meet your local farmers and KEEP THE BEET.
Think, be and live Green.
