The Best and Quickest Way to Germinate Cedar Nuts

      SOL Magazine Issue # 7 Spring 2010.
      Space of Love Magazine suggests:

1. Wrap a few cedar nuts into a coarse cloth (to let them breath) and put them into the freezer for 9 days.

2. After 9 days take the seeds out and put them into a bowl with water for 1.5 – 2 hours (better for 9 hours). Those having sunk show they are full and ready for planting.

3. The nuts should be planted in a box filled with a specially prepared mix (not just any soil). The mix should be made of sand (70%) and small sized wood-chips (30%). As compared to soil mixes, this mix is free of rot-inducing bacteria and is moisture-retentive. Considering that cedar germs are very delicate and prone to decay and desiccation, the germination and survival rate in this mix is much higher if you carefully follow these instructions.

4. Before planting, do complete all of Anastasia’s recommendations (see below).

5. A nut should be planted with its narrow end down into the mix. This is where the germ will emerge. That way it will easily push the shell up to the surface, and see the light right away. To plant a nut means therefore just to stick it down into the mix, slightly more narrow end first, so that you can see the wider top. Water it with care.

6. Finally, pour some dry mix over it, no more than 3-5 mm thick.

7. Cover the box with polyethylene to create a greenhouse effect and place it under the sun.

8. If you did everything right, the nuts will germinate in 9 days!

How to grow cedar sprouts.

1. Take the polyethylene out. Leave the box facing a sunny direction.

2. Cedars grow best and quickest when exposed to the sun. For example, for 5 years in the shade a plant might grow up to 20 cm, whereas in 5 years exposed to the sun, up to 80 cm.

3. Replanting to the open ground may be done in 1 or 2 months.

4. To replant outdoors, dig a hole in the ground, about 10 x 10 cm.

5. Fill the hole with the same mix of sand and wood-chips described above.

6. The mix in the box with the cedars should be well moistened (to a sticky state – which is safer for taking out the sprouts).

7. Take a small shovel and slide it with care under the sprout to the root depth (3-5 cm). Pick up the sprout and replant it into the prepared hole with the mix.

8. During dry weather, you can soak and rinse your feet in a basin and pour this water under the sprouts. Be careful not to pour the water directly on the sprout needles, only on the roots.

Anastasia suggests:

Take a little nut from a resinous cone, place it in your mouth and hold it there, moistened with your saliva for 9 minutes. Then hold it for thirty seconds between the palms of your hands. Thereafter, open your palms, bring your hands close to your mouth and deeply exhale right onto the seed (or seeds). After that, keep it in the open air in the sun for thirty seconds, as if to show it to the world, and to the heavens.

Plant the seed in a little pot of prepared mix in your home and water it daily. (See above.) Before watering, put your fingers in the water to bless it as well as yourself and loved-ones every day, with a conscious awareness of Divine presence.

After the seed sprouts, you may share your innermost thoughts with it. On summer days and frost-free nights the little pot with the little sprout should be placed outdoors among other plants growing in the ground so that it can commune with the stars, the Sun, and the Moon, so that it may know the rain and the breeze and the spirit of the blades of grass all around, and then come back to its friends, its parents. This can be done as many times as one's desire and time allows.

The seedling will grow and develop through the ages – a cedar, after all will live more than five hundred years - and beget offspring and communicate to the young cedars about the souls of those that cultivated them.

When the sprout has grown indoors to about thirty centimeters, it may be planted in the earth in early spring.

These will not be ordinary seedlings. They are like the ringing cedars. Warmed by the kindness of human hearts, having touched the human soul, they will absorb the best vibrations the Universe has to offer and return them to Man. And Man and the Earth will begin to shine once more together in that space – now and forever. And a new conscious awareness will emerge, and discoveries of universal importance will go forth from such blessed people throughout the whole Earth.
