Space of Love Diary. On the quest for our Kin's Domain.

        by Yuri and Irina,     spaceoflove.com
The new frontier challenges us to leave behind the comfortable and familiar self-image as victims of our lives – always praying for the best, hoping to avoid bad luck and hoping to be blessed by good luck – and replace it with a new and more accurate self-image of creators of our experiences.                     Gary Zukav

Dear SOL readers!  We are continuing to share our living story for you. Here, we will tell you about our quest for our Kin’s domain land. Originally we planned to visit the ecovillage Ljuboistok in the beginning of May, but, as they say, man proposes, God disposes! Due to certain circumstances we could not get there before the end of June. However, the popular adage is absolutely right: "Whatever happens is all for the best." We have good evidence that this was true for us, too. And here at last, two months later, we were under way for our land quest.

The weather smiled on us: it was a fine, sunny day,...     read more >>

You are Brilliant and the Earth is Hiring

The Commencement Address by Paul Hawken to the Class of 2009, University of Portland

When I was invited to give this speech, I was asked if I could give a simple short talk that was “direct, naked, taut, honest, passionate, lean, shivering, startling, and graceful.” No pressure there.

Let’s begin with the startling part. Class of 2009: you are going to have to figure out what it means to be a human being on earth at a time when every living system is declining, and the rate of decline is accelerating. Kind of a mind‐boggling situation... but not one peer‐reviewed paper published in the last thirty years can refute that statement. Basically, civilization needs a new operating system, you are the programmers, and we need it within a few decades... read more >>

How Yarrow Ecovillage Got “Ecovillage Zoning”

        By Michael Hale

"What makes you different from any other developer?”

The speaker, a middle-aged man with longish hair, was clearly on the offensive. It was October, 2002, and this was the first of our public meetings in the small, conservative farming community of Yarrow in southwestern British Columbia. We’d purchased a 25-acre former dairy farm right in the middle of town; whatever we did on the property would clearly affect Yarrow residents. We hadn’t prepared for this question, though, believing a more likely query would be something like, “Are you a cult?”

We had set so much stock in an open consultation process with the townspeople. Was it all going to go sideways? As I began to stammer out a reply, the man suddenly asked another question:

“How are you going to handle wastewater treatment? Our houses are on septic systems. There won’t be enough capacity to handle a whole bunch of new housing.” ...  read more >>

Let Your Embrace be Music and a Living Poem.  A new Sexuality.

by Regina B. Jensen,  PhD,    fullyalivewellnesscenter.com
"Karezza is the greatest beautifier... it maintains youth and is one of the best health exercises."
                                                                                                                                                                          William Lloyd

"Now to you, the man, I speak: Lie down beside your partner and begin to caress her gently with the softness of your hands and fingertips. Tell her to relax herself and lie utterly passive. Tell her to yield herself to the bliss of utter peace and realization...." Can you hear it already? This is the new locker-room talk, after 2012. As the men towel themselves dry after a fierce football game, a younger, inexperienced male asks one of his older buddies what all that sex-talk is about and whether he can get some coaching on what to do with that girl next door, with whom he seems to be so infatuated. "Tell her that you love her, and that your whole being longs for entire unity with her. Remember that you cannot use the word 'love' too often. She will never tire of it and it is your watchword. Be to her an incarnate blessing. Try to convey God to her." (That actually was, more correctly, a direct quote from William Lloyd's enchanting little book "The Karezza Method")...  read more >>
