Space of Love Living Diary.

The Declaration of Our Kin’s Domain.

        by Yuri and Irina,     spaceoflove.com

Spring came as the natural way of things, and it is time for the next chapter of our Living Diary. Significant and exciting events related to the Ringing Cedars movement practically swept us off our feet, so that we have found ourselves deeply and directly involved in them, which was absolutely unexpected.

It all began when we started to help international visitors arrange for participation in the Ringing Cedars Festival on March, 27th, 2010. We expected for several persons to come from the USA and Europe, such as Steve Easterly (ака Radomir, the artist who produced the new music CD "Revived") and the publisher Ingerlil Teute from Denmark. I was busy with multiple arrangements and in ongoing contact with the organizers of the Festival and the chairman of the Anastasia Foundation Maya Ladilova. As the entire Festival had been planned to take place on a single - long - day, the idea occurred to organize a trip to a Kin’s village and short journey to the dolmens of the Geledzhik region and Shetinin's school for our SOL readers who had undertaken such a long trip to visit Russia. This also demanded my full attention and so I was indeed quite occupied by all these challenges... read more >>

Globalization of Human Energy

        By Hendrix Castro

According to the Random House Dictionary, the definition of “globalize” is to extend to other, or all, parts of the globe. From an individual’s perspective, the underlying root meaning of globalization lies in the expression of the individual unit of consciousness called man moving beyond the ego or beyond the contemporary idea of self, in which our identities are defined by the barrier of our skin. The construct of a human being, as defined by the borders of skin, is redefined by the awareness and material expression of the energy, which extends within, throughout, and around the physical body that one identifies with. read more >>

It Takes an...Ecovillage to Raise an Orphan

       Helping very Wounded Children Heal
       by Regina B. Jensen,  Ph.D.,    editor@spaceoflovemagazine.com

"It is really a national disaster as the number of wounded and damaged children is growing, and the extent of the children's suffering is beyond our comprehension."                       Katya Gurkina

Waiting in line at the passport control in Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, the couple behind me was showing off pictures of their new baby boy, about one year old. "Isn't he adorable?" the mother asked with the exact same sound of adoration any biological mother would have. "We are here to pick him up. He is our third adopted child." Ah, I thought, while smiling and nodding at the photo of the beautiful little boy, with my psychotherapist's brain ever busy. How much I admire people who open their hearts and homes to little orphans, but even more so to the older children who are so much more compromised by the loss of their parents and have been frequently, at least in Russia, exposed to much neglect and abuse. I have sat through thousands of hours of sobbing and raging with adopted as well as biological children who turned into suffering adults, now trying to work through the early issues which seem to block them from a fulfilling life...read more >>

The Best and Quickest Way to Germinate Cedar Nuts

          Space of Love Magazine suggests:
         1. Wrap a few cedar nuts into a coarse cloth (to let them breath) and put them into the freezer for 9 days.

         2. After 9 days take the seeds out and put them into a bowl with water for 1.5 – 2 hours (better for 9 hours). Those having sunk show they are full and ready for planting.

          3. The nuts should be planted in a box filled with a specially prepared mix (not just any soil). The mix should be made of sand (70%) and small sized wood-chips (30%). As compared to soil mixes, this mix is free of rot-inducing bacteria and is moisture-retentive. Considering that cedar germs are very delicate and prone to decay and desiccation, the germination and survival rate in this mix is much higher if you carefully follow these instructions. .. read more >>

Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World

         By Regina B. Jensen,  Ph.D.,    editor@spaceoflovemagazine.com
Our Santa Barbara Permaculture Center, with the help of Wesley Roe and Margie Bushman, has been very supportive of the local Santa Barbara City College's Center for Sustainability. So now we can frequently harvest the fruits of their labors by way of the most amazing, inspiring speakers the Center invites from all over the world.

Paul Stamets, who enchanted my inner child's heart years ago with a "fungi" shipment which promptly flourished with masses of various types of edible mushrooms, came to us straight from one of the prestigious TED conferences where he gave a presentation - and apparently was approached by Bill Gates who seems to be interested in Paul's work. No wonder Paul inspires the power elite, although he never took off his typical gremlin hat for us, made from mushroom fiber, looking as unassuming as ever. Paul's talk caused such a stir that people in the overfilled auditorium would not stop clapping. There are also several other local Permaculture related businesses (such as Quail Springs PC farm, quailsprings.org) who are supporting and helping market these events. One or two individuals, we cannot emphasize it enough, along with a responsive community, can do so much to raise awareness and make for inspiring change. ... read more >>

What Babies are Teaching Us About Violence: List of References

         By by David Chamberlain, Ph.D.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. David Chamberlain the first time almost twenty years ago, at which time he was already an icon in the emerging field of Pre- and Perinatal psychology. This is a ground-breaking article David wrote many years ago and it is still as apropos today as ever, especially to those of us committed to making space for completely different conception, gestation, birthing and child-rearing experiences and environments. Dr. Chamberlain is glad to be able to share his incredible wisdom with our SOL readers. I recently got to meet his wife, too, who loves her garden and all the lively energies in it. No wonder he is a man with such a soft spot for babies! R.J. ...
