Issue # 6 Winter 2010 !

SoL Magazine. Issue # 6 cover

Celebrating and Mourning.... All so relative!

My most favorite thing is writing to YOU after we have completed one more of our wonderful SOL issues. But when I finally sit down to celebrate here, I usually mourn a little as well - for the many things we couldn't add into our current issue. This time, it's hard to use the word mourning while we have such incomprehensible losses in Haiti. The international permaculture community set up a website right away: permaculturehaiti.org, trying to help with immediate relief and also set up for regeneration and self-sufficiency later.

Amazing, the synchronicity with our cover image. Of course, we were working on it long before this horrible catastrophe happened. But we knew that the world is and will be in crisis and none of us can ignore that...which brings me back to the exciting themes of this issue. Where do I start? Well, you will find them shortly, when you open this treasure trove of love-seeds. But for one of the themes, I went all the way to Africa, to the 9th International Permaculture Convergence - exhausted, last minute and on my last penny. None of our readers, we thought, would prefer to ignore the world crisis while planning and/or creating their cozy Spaces of Love, or growing beets in apartment pots, while millions are unnecessarily dying when we have the information to help them. Surprise! So much to learn from our African friends and their amazing passion - you'll see. Fully believing that I would be sleeping in a tattered, borrowed tent, I unexpectedly found myself in paradise - and in the largest family-created Space of Love I have found so far on the planet: Kumbali Country Lodge (KumbaliLodge.com), co-created by the incredible Pickering family. In addition, our legendary permaculture master from Australia, Geoff Lawton (you have seen him in SOL) just put their fledgling new PC center (naturesgiftpermaculture.org), expertly developed by Mada Siebert and Hope Thornton, under his powerful wings. I can already see it as the most attractive showcase for sustainable living in the world. And they loved our wonderful SOL Magazine!

On another note, namely that of increased networking, one proactive team at ICP9 was developing Plan Africa, a growing network of love and green patches of paradise. I'm sorry I could not report on it, so we too could get inspired to connect in a similar way, namely an increasingly organized global network of nodal points, directly accessible to us all. If you go on their website, PlanAfrica.com, you can see how they've begun to arrange for each region in Africa to register itself, so everyone can be in touch. How about Plan Earth for us, if only someone could create a powerful enough website - with the resources to set it up? (But, our ColoradoKinDomains.com has been busy developing a vibrant network.)

But here's the funniest gossip, since we are hip to that other world as well: Entertainer Madonna, who loves Malawi, had just left this heavenly place, freeing it up for our PC Convergence. So this Space of Love actually attracts helpful celebrities (another one just visited there), who like to come to exercise their power to make a difference in the world. I wafted under mosquito nets at night, ate home-grown organic food, and can't remember when last I met so many wonderful new friends in a single place. You'll "meet" some of them as you read on. You will also find our many ongoing reading pleasures, and always new treasures to challenge our thinking, of who we are to ourselves and each other, plus those little sweet moments here and there, via image or feeling, that help us settle quietly into our core - like a seed.

Here is ONE big global ~HUG~ for you,

from Yuri and Regina :)) :))

Statement of Purpose

We recognize the present time as a transitional period for humanity, with massive transformations on their way to a new era of more refined dimensions. With this in mind we consider this a final call - of Nature and of Divine Mind - to carefully collect and spread the information about Space of Love so as to assist people with this transition gracefully and joyfully into a new era of Love and Harmony. We are all co-creators of some or other Space of Love, and of our planet , and with the help of Nature, we truly learn and contribute from our heart.
